Midgard, Asgard, Jotunheim and Viking Stories in general

I just started another topic (I will never finish a single project...)

I have lots of  unpainted Vikings from all Mandufacturers (Strelets, Zvezda, Emhar.. and also some figs form Age of Mythology and WoWarcraft!)

Since i just received the new Strelets Big Sets (Stamford Bridge and Normans)Ii would like to go for all these Norse, as well as Normans and Saxons..

I just started with some single Strelets vikings from the new Big Set (figs are actually nice..) but I went further and I painted a Frost Giant (Age of Mythology boardgame) ,  and the mighty Gods Thor (too much Marvel version i guess..) and Odin...

Here the new "mortal" Norse Warriors (also an Age of Mythology "jarl figure, the figs of this game look much cooler when painted )

Here the mythical  with one warrior as comparison.
"Thor" comes from "World of Warcraft" boardgame

Finally Odin King of Gods, with his divine Spear going together with the brave vikings to the Battle before they join again in Valhalla..

Nine Rings for the Kings of Men (Part ii)

I finished yesterday my 2 Test figures of Nazgul-Ringwraiths,

I am quite satisfied with the result; I believe  red eyes are a "must" :)

Dry brush with a mixture pale greeen-dark grey  was good for the clothes

You can see here the 2 figures: armoured Nazgul  and Peter Jackson long-robe Nazgul .
They definetely can make the job :)

I prefer however the armoured version. My opinion: they are supposed to be ancient powerful Kings and Warriors, not just ghost-spectres. And they should have a little-minimal individual character.

The version which appeared in "The Hobbit: Battle of Five armies worked also this way

I can go on now developing the whole 9 Ringwraith group..

I will prepare mounted figures, and for the Witch King I guess i will search for  some wyvern- winged fell beast :)

In the last picture I added Saruman the White who stills waits for a painted Horse (such powerful Wizard former Leader of the Wizard council should not ride a dirty smelly Hyaena-warg)
..mm He looks too much like Gandalf the White :(

Nine Rings for the Kings of Men (part i)

I show you here  how i spent Last night.

I got recently the Redbox russian War monks just as a curiosity and for give variety in certains armies or groups (some of them will join Alexander Nevsky, some others will got recruited by Ivan the terrible ansd the streltsi, another just as plain fantasy magicians).

One of the figures is rather interesting (in the red circle, pic from Plastic Soldier Review):

That man is full of posibilities

I imagined that those long robes and attacking pose looks very similar to these well known fellows

So I started to make something similar to have the first true 1/72 NAzgul or the Nine Ringwraiths you´ll ever see :)..

first impriming and black base coat.
Face was not difficult to remove, then i needed a proper sword...

Here after some shading and dry brsh (and the sword of course), it looks quite similer..picture is not so good.. But i think it works.

I will show the finished version

I do not know if to add eyes like the Bakshi´s animations film 1978 version (a pictue here.. that scene was copied by Peter Jacksin in 2001 )... opinions welcome

And linking with that.. in the same animation film you see  in aniotgher scene retroscopic armoured Nazgul... They are pretty scary and i liike them much

With the intention of representing this armoured version as well, i was searching a lot for armoured-cloak-dark-evil looking knights in all the 1/72 databases

I got some metal "brethren knights" from Tumbling Dice models 1/72 medieval range (yes they are alive still.. even if so less pictures in the web!) Figures get actually much what i was looking for

Here is what I achieved so far--- work to do still.. And again what about eyes¿?¿?

Next chapter. finishing thiese tests and also try to make mounted Nazgul!

And finally, as usual, my last batch of converted undead skeletons. I am experimenting the corrosion /oxid effect... not 100% happy so far with it, but the horde looks fine

Busy 2017

Hola, i spent a very busy hobby january of assembling , converting and PAINTING (only from 11p.m to 2 a.m when my wife and three chldren sleep!)

I will make separate posts  for diverse topics , but here  some pics as advance (horrible quality pics)
I will post next days better images of Dragons, Ents, orcs, undead,  dwarves elves and more..

First, an impressive Mammoth from Dee Zee Miniatures (great 28mm prehistoric mammals, wonderful for 1/72)
This beauty is planned for some Game of Thrones ideas :)

An old and popular Tolkien Character.. (Peter Jackson version, this incredible plastic chess figure i got for 4 eur and it  is perfect for 1/72, i just had to improve the panting a bit.. Games Workshop has this for more than 25 eur...)

Reaper Bones "young Fire Dragon"
Bones has a wide offer of plastic monters and creatures...this incidentally was painted by me as small "Ice Dragon" instead of Fire (i found this cold species matched better the figure)

My first 1/72 Orcs!! Pic is very bad, but you can find there Caesar grunts (sets i and ii), a pair of Alliance smaller orcs, a Games Workshop moria orc (he looks bigger here) and the chieftain (secnd from the left) which is an old venerable grenadier metal 25mm half-orc) he matches so good as bg 1/72 orc leader.. I made te horns (also a horneted cap for another in the middle)

The second from the right is a metal 15mm ogre from Blood Dawn (not only dwarves are interesting from this manufacturer)

In the front also some goblins who were in the past GW snotlings..i have place for everyone in my Universe :)

..and the orc Shaman on War Wyvern!!!
This nice model is from an extint boardgame from around the year 2000,
"Quest for the Dragonlords" i was lucky to find the Game Expansion which includes several nice metal 20mm figures as this... I will show more from that game (there are orcs, dearves, elves and humans.. A little tiny but i started sme cnversions..)

This dragon-Wyvern and orc rider were not  converted at all..i am happy that painting work looks good.

I started also with Alliance Cimmerians, as you can check next to the wyvern ...i love those sets!!,

Finally.. My undead army is growing with reinforcements.. I converted more 1/72 diverse warriors, and you can find there in the pic gamepieces from Battlelore2- Heralds of Dreadfall and Defenders of the Realm (thanks Mac for your help while ordering in the USA)

And a good discvery: sepia ink make they look more "dead" hahaha

Enough for today I gues..
