Jotunnheim Saga

I just present this little funny visual narrative test , as also many of you usually do :)

" Half-Brothers Olaf and Sven , sons of Bjarki  had arranged finally an expedition after so long time of preparatives and discussions .. To where? Not  a clear idea.. 

Some stories of richess in far north had been heard..so they sailed there.... Just  one Longship with 13 further vikings mad enough to go with both them, ath the edge of the winter.... Only to find cold wind, ice  and brizzard "

-By Loki, Olaf ,  son of a Goat...What are we doing in this ice desert?? Not even a rat to eat!

-Calm down you my Troll brother...Lets explore... a bit.. Lets go West!

-West? For sure Nothing there! At least more sunny at East! I go there? Who comes with me? 

"Sven left  Eastwards with half of the viking warriors...

After several hours of walking, some tall shadows appeared on their direction ...Who were they?  Human-ressembling warriors..but  skin so blue like Ice.. And two-times a man´s height!!!!

And those hard merciless faces..."

-Jotunn!?  (Giants!) Can it be?

"There was no time for questions! They were not coming for asking, So Sven cried:

-By Thor, lets smash their skulls!!

The battle was not going easy at all.. soon some warrior fell..

-By Odin, what the Hell are we doing here?? I wish at least my brother and the other men have more luck.. We get to Valhalla today, men...

At the same time, Olaf went Westward with the rest of vikings. No idea what was happening with the other group! .. 

-I hope my brother does not do any silly thing

Suddennly some roarings and noises were heard... What were those white monsters, coming close? Long furs and Teeht, breathing like beasts..

A band Ice trolls!! They were hungry and attacked fiercely!

But the Norse warriors were even fiercer, by Thor!!
The trolls fled as fast as they had come, with the men still pursuing them!


-Ho Ho!!  We won by Odin!!! We must tell  the others! Sad they missed this fight!

Viking Shield Maidens

This is a topic that motivates me a lot long time ago.

Some would judge me maybe as a sexual perverted, but you must admit that the image of  warrior armoured viking women (usually represented also as very  beautiful in Tv, cinema and literature)  is visually too much impresisve and attractive

The TV Show "Vikings" for sure has influenced much, but therer was already before of that, the characther of Eowyn from Tolkien was also there. And, if you search you can fin some records in the nordic sagas about these supposed fighting "shield maidens" (skjaldmo) .. The Myth of Valkyries is strongly related also to that... They all stay more or less in a Legendary world...

For sure, not much material available in 1/72 (still ).. 

I like for sure the newest sets of Amazons and moderns Amazons from redbox, but they are not exactly what i mean here (they show too much flesh :)) I was looking for women with armour and long robes.....

So this should be my first option (Orion viking "valkyrie) : i must paint her, if I find these guys in my parents home

But I went to another way in the meanwhile: As I have still several 15mm figures from demonworld left.. i realize that some wood elves look very nice and beuatiful .. (not sure if the figures were man or woman in the designer head? that happens often with elves..) 

So why not combining with long mail shirts and robes form Strelets Normans and Norman Archers????

RESULT IS FOR ME QUITE SURPRISING !!! 

AND WITH GOOD PAINTING WORK IT GOES EVEN BETTER

Midgard, Asgard, Jotunheim and Viking Stories in general

I just started another topic (I will never finish a single project...)




I have lots of  unpainted Vikings from all Mandufacturers (Strelets, Zvezda, Emhar.. and also some figs form Age of Mythology and WoWarcraft!)






Since i just received the new Strelets Big Sets (Stamford Bridge and Normans)Ii would like to go for all these Norse, as well as Normans and Saxons..




I just started with some single Strelets vikings from the new Big Set (figs are actually nice..) but I went further and I painted a Frost Giant (Age of Mythology boardgame) ,  and the mighty Gods Thor (too much Marvel version i guess..) and Odin...




Here the new "mortal" Norse Warriors (also an Age of Mythology "jarl figure, the figs of this game look much cooler when painted )

Finally Odin King of Gods, with his divine Spear going together with the brave vikings to the Battle before they join again in Valhalla..
