undead Knights

Another bunch of fantasy custom figures,
This time, 17 undead Horse Warriors AMD thierbundead mounts...100% 3d printed home made!!!
I mixed several designs of horses and Riders..I experienced some trouble with the scaling down from original 28mm heroic scale..But after just Two trials, creating suitable bases and shields (which I did not print so craftwork required) and other adjustements for legs-saddles (as any plástic set), voila...

I believe they Will look fierce and scary enough, Riding from Death bAck to some Battle...

Hope to Paint them Soon and also mix with those Army of the Seas, Alliance sets

slowly growing armies: Undead and Greenskins as starter

Hello, not su much to post this time but I wanted to keep this a little alive :))
I show you how big is at the moment my undead army:

Around 60 infantry (I made three melee units, archers at the moment i have so little..) , some vampire and necromancer leaders, some creatures and a single rider..

Plastic figures from:

Good old Caesar set (skeletons and so on)
Dark Alliance "Army of the dead.."
Game pieces form "Battlelore" and "Defenders of the realm" (too big, near 25mm scale, not so bad when mixed)
Some prevously living for several sets-- I found "Mars" teutonic stuff as very useful as undead (becaise of the horrible poses and sculpting...)

Monsters form boardgame "Battlelore" again and "Descent"-- Here yoy find a giant evil bat (some kinf of "Vargheist" or "Varghulf"¿?),  as well as some zombie dogs and wolves Barghests¿?

Metal figs from:

"Blood dawn"- 18mm range which I converted to 1/72 with great fun

Vlad Tepes the Impaler; converted actual Vlad from Lucky Toys, but better equipped with Zvezda armoured body and barded metal warhorse from "Tumbling Dice" miniatures
.....
Important was trying to get oxided and damaged armours.. I mixed metal paint with brown and added little orange spots.. it worked more or less :)

General overview:

,,,,,

View of several foot units. I mixed skeleotns and zombies with no criteria.. (I always found a little idiot  the Warhammer concept of having them as separate.. My inspiration is in this case "game of thrones" army of the dead...any corpse is useful for an undead horde) many conversions with previously "living" plastic bodies together with skulls

4 Lonesome archers (more to come) with the runinng dead monsters on the background

Here the leaders; a sexy vampiress, the undead Lord Vlad the Impaler, and the giant bat or Varghulf in the background.. My single dead cavalry trooper also here (more to come...)

.. And for more fun, I stafted also the greenskin hordes wich must fight againsdt my elf eagle rider and troops...

First some goblins..  I mixed one GW Snotlings with some nice 15mm orcs I bought formn Mirliton (Italy) the do look OK as goblins, next to the 1/72 Conan characer and his dwarf ally!

Caesar goblin also for comparison (size is compatible)

Those Goblins were not  match at all for the mighty cimmerian, so that  some orc brutes are also joining the battle as reinforcement!

Figs form Cesar sets I and II,  Blood Dawn (shadiw corp.) 15mm ogres (quite good for 1/72 orcs again),  the chieftain is a metal grenadier half-orc,  and  in the lot also even another metal  mithril venerable figure...

A pair of smaller "snaga" are there, form Dark Alliance set I (snaga are a lower rank in orc society, the word means "slave", so I will considerate every smaller orc form Alliance and even GW Moria orcs as these.. not so small as goblins but no much dignity either)

At the moment I have around 70 undead, 40 elves, 40 dwarves and these small 15 troop orc contingent.. Humand I must reorganize

My plan before my live ends, is to get following armies, of around 300-400 troop each (big challenge!) probably my elder son (or grandson ?)will go on this...

FANTASY
-Orc and goblin
-Uruk-hai-Isengard
-Elf (wood+high elf together)
-Dwarf
-Chaos (chaos warriors+barbarians+demons+beastmen all together)
-Undead--also suitable for white Wlakers if I find those walkers..
-Gondor/Human--
-Haradrim/hUman and oliphants
-Rohan (smaller: 100-200)
-Some kind of skaven -ratmen(i have funny figures here, metal from Splintered loght, in adition to Cesar plastic..)
-Treemen/Ents- ALMOST READY (ARPUND 20-30 MODELS TO ATTACK iSENGARD :)
-Warhammer empire: RENACENTIST EUROPEAN+CREATURES AND WEAPONS
-bretonia: knights

-Nordheim/Jotunheim: ice giants+scandinavian mythology creatures-small
-House Stark -or northern(smaller army-100-200)
-House  Lannister or southern (smaller army-100-200)
-House targaryen (smaller army-100-200, mercenary+unsullied+nomadic+Dragons)
-Wildlings north of the wall.. still to define

-Cimmerian small army
-Thulsa Doom raiding force-still to define- much to take from Chaos proposals
-Amazons

HISTORIC-
-Egyptian
-Hittite
-Classical greek
-Persian (600 big)
-Republican roman
-Carthaginian
-Gallic
-Hispanic/Iberian
-Parthian/Sassanian (90% horse-around 100-200)-Inlcudes amazons
-Scythian. very much in common with the parthian

-Imperial roman
-Dacian
-Early Germanic

-Late roman
-Late germanic
-Pictish-celtic
-Arthurian (borrowing from other armies)

medieval..
-NORMANS
-VIKINGS
-SAXONS
-TEUTONIC
-RUSSIAN
-MIDDLE EAST CRUSADERS
-MUSLIM/MOORS

Then we jump to Hundred years war, Renaissnce, TYW, Siege if Vienna.. it never ends

Evil Guys (ii) little chaos

Hello again, here some more adquisitions and ideas

Firts: another 15mm Demonworld figure, this tiem and evil "rogue knight", he comes form "Icelords of Isthak" faction.
He is quite big for a 15mm fig, so i mounted him on an 1/72 warhorse.. and the result is quirte good. Compare him to the undead alliance horseman

My chaos horde will grow with this and some alliance cimmerians

A chaos army need powerful sorcerers and dmeons... here a converted Caesar figure 8a lich converted into a human evil wizard) and the dmeon, who is a gamepiece from "Defenders of the realm" he es a dragonman but for me he suits better as Warrior Red Demon

Here again the same twi figures together with a troll from "Age of Mythology" and two former revell normans dead long ago who were renimated as undead warriors.. The easy effect of damaging a little the faces (making bigger holes by the eyes and cutting nose, it is simple)  and a decent  paintjob allows to make very easy conversiosn in order to make a bigger and mor variated undead army

Nine Rings for the Kings of Men (part i)

I show you here  how i spent Last night.

I got recently the Redbox russian War monks just as a curiosity and for give variety in certains armies or groups (some of them will join Alexander Nevsky, some others will got recruited by Ivan the terrible ansd the streltsi, another just as plain fantasy magicians).

One of the figures is rather interesting (in the red circle, pic from Plastic Soldier Review):

That man is full of posibilities

I imagined that those long robes and attacking pose looks very similar to these well known fellows

So I started to make something similar to have the first true 1/72 NAzgul or the Nine Ringwraiths you´ll ever see :)..

first impriming and black base coat.
Face was not difficult to remove, then i needed a proper sword...

Here after some shading and dry brsh (and the sword of course), it looks quite similer..picture is not so good.. But i think it works.

I will show the finished version

I do not know if to add eyes like the Bakshi´s animations film 1978 version (a pictue here.. that scene was copied by Peter Jacksin in 2001 )... opinions welcome

And linking with that.. in the same animation film you see  in aniotgher scene retroscopic armoured Nazgul... They are pretty scary and i liike them much

With the intention of representing this armoured version as well, i was searching a lot for armoured-cloak-dark-evil looking knights in all the 1/72 databases

I got some metal "brethren knights" from Tumbling Dice models 1/72 medieval range (yes they are alive still.. even if so less pictures in the web!) Figures get actually much what i was looking for

Here is what I achieved so far--- work to do still.. And again what about eyes¿?¿?

Next chapter. finishing thiese tests and also try to make mounted Nazgul!

And finally, as usual, my last batch of converted undead skeletons. I am experimenting the corrosion /oxid effect... not 100% happy so far with it, but the horde looks fine

Busy 2017

Hola, i spent a very busy hobby january of assembling , converting and PAINTING (only from 11p.m to 2 a.m when my wife and three chldren sleep!)

I will make separate posts  for diverse topics , but here  some pics as advance (horrible quality pics)
I will post next days better images of Dragons, Ents, orcs, undead,  dwarves elves and more..

First, an impressive Mammoth from Dee Zee Miniatures (great 28mm prehistoric mammals, wonderful for 1/72)
This beauty is planned for some Game of Thrones ideas :)

An old and popular Tolkien Character.. (Peter Jackson version, this incredible plastic chess figure i got for 4 eur and it  is perfect for 1/72, i just had to improve the panting a bit.. Games Workshop has this for more than 25 eur...)

Reaper Bones "young Fire Dragon"
Bones has a wide offer of plastic monters and creatures...this incidentally was painted by me as small "Ice Dragon" instead of Fire (i found this cold species matched better the figure)

My first 1/72 Orcs!! Pic is very bad, but you can find there Caesar grunts (sets i and ii), a pair of Alliance smaller orcs, a Games Workshop moria orc (he looks bigger here) and the chieftain (secnd from the left) which is an old venerable grenadier metal 25mm half-orc) he matches so good as bg 1/72 orc leader.. I made te horns (also a horneted cap for another in the middle)

The second from the right is a metal 15mm ogre from Blood Dawn (not only dwarves are interesting from this manufacturer)

In the front also some goblins who were in the past GW snotlings..i have place for everyone in my Universe :)

..and the orc Shaman on War Wyvern!!!
This nice model is from an extint boardgame from around the year 2000,
"Quest for the Dragonlords" i was lucky to find the Game Expansion which includes several nice metal 20mm figures as this... I will show more from that game (there are orcs, dearves, elves and humans.. A little tiny but i started sme cnversions..)

This dragon-Wyvern and orc rider were not  converted at all..i am happy that painting work looks good.

I started also with Alliance Cimmerians, as you can check next to the wyvern ...i love those sets!!,

Finally.. My undead army is growing with reinforcements.. I converted more 1/72 diverse warriors, and you can find there in the pic gamepieces from Battlelore2- Heralds of Dreadfall and Defenders of the Realm (thanks Mac for your help while ordering in the USA)

And a good discvery: sepia ink make they look more "dead" hahaha

Enough for today I gues..

Undead conversions and suggestions

Hi,
I always  like imagining hordes of undead skeletons and zombies advancing agains a poor and scared human garnison..

From the very begining i bought several sets of Caesar skeletons and the whole brand of Redbox "Warriors of the Dead" and other zombie stuff

But i always wanted more variety.. I swapped some heads with armoured warriors from different producers and the result is quite good! Some armoured skeleton knights :)

I always liked a Games Workshop skeleton musician.. I tried to make the same "cheap" option; i added a skelly just a spare Cornu from Hat "Roman Artillery" set .

The rest; you can find heads and bodies from:
Strelets Order military knights: foot
Miniart italian knights
Miniart Burgundian knights

Some knight figures with some static or not very lively pose are perfect for undead with small conversion. I took samples with only "face modification" from:

Miniart Burgundian knights
Caesar XV c. knights
Caser XIII century foot soldiers

and  again from MArs BAltic Crisaders (this set can result a good source for fantasay conversions!

Finnally, I discovered Boardgame "Battlelore. 2nd Ed"
Figs are a little big (near real 25mm), but I think  they can match with 1/72 standard, when mixed. Here samples from expansion set "Heralds of Dreadfall", full with undead warriors (purple figures)

It is not ver cheap, but for around 35 eur you get more than 40 figs including cav and a big undead dragon"
I am consdiering buying more sets from this game.

Swordsman with some smaller colleagues and a worried roman

Bowman, Nice pose

9 Wraiths are included. They look too big but tehy are very fantasmagoric

Finnally, the undead knight. Impresisve figure. It can fill a hole of lacking "evil armoured cavalry"which you could use for evil lords, nazgul, It matches quite nice with ither 1/72 cav (i added some for comparison) , even if bigger (he is suppossed to result scaring!)

I almost forget the dragon!!!!
